Privacy & Ethics

Confidentiality

Everything discussed in therapy is confidential. I will not share information about you or your family with anyone outside the therapy room without your explicit written consent, except in the following circumstances:

• If I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, including children
• If required to do so by law (e.g. court order)
• If there is a safeguarding concern involving a child or vulnerable adult

I will always try to discuss any disclosure with you first, unless doing so would put someone at risk.

Safeguarding

I take safeguarding seriously. If I have concerns about the safety or welfare of a child or vulnerable adult, I have a duty to share this information with the relevant authorities. I hold current safeguarding training and follow the guidelines set out by my professional bodies.

Data protection & GDPR

I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What I collect

• Name, contact details, and any information you share during sessions
• Brief session notes (kept securely for the duration of our work together)
• Contact form submissions from this website

How I use it

• To provide therapy and manage appointments
• To respond to your enquiry
• Session notes support the therapeutic process and are not shared

How I store it

All personal data is stored securely with encryption. Paper notes, if any, are kept in a locked cabinet. Data is retained only for as long as necessary and is securely destroyed when no longer needed.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. Contact me to make a request.

Special category data

Therapy involves discussing health and personal matters that constitute “special category data” under GDPR. I process this data on the legal basis of your explicit consent and for the provision of health care. This data is treated with the highest level of security and confidentiality.

This website

This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. No analytics data is collected. The contact form sends your information directly to me via encrypted email — it is not stored in a database.

Professional ethics

I adhere to the ethical codes of the Association for Family and Systemic Practice (AFSP) and, upon registration, the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I attend regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

Complaints

If you have a concern about any aspect of your therapy, I encourage you to raise it with me directly. If you wish to make a formal complaint, you can contact AFSP or UKCP.
